The frequency of the power system is kept low due to safety issues, and high frequency telecommunication signals from the line trap are used to filter the frequency of the power system. Therefore, this equipment must produce high impedance at high frequencies. The frequency bands that can be covered by line traps are between 64 and 400 kHz depending on their inductance value.
On the other hand, because the line traps are placed in series in the circuit of the transmission lines, their design should be able to withstand the mechanical stresses caused by the short-circuit current of the line, shock overvoltage caused by switching, and thermal overload. And any other environmental or mechanical conditions that the line may encounter.
Power wave line traps can be used for transmission and super distribution lines in the range of voltage from 10 to 400 kV, rated current from 400 to 3150 amps with different inductance ranges and frequencies. These products in different ranges have type tests from KEMA, CESI and NIC VVA reference laboratories.
