Improving the level of interlocking of high pressure substations in the form of post automation retrofit based on IEC 61850

Electrical and mechanical limitations in most of the high pressure substations which are conventional or incomplete DCS have caused that, despite the high importance of the interlock function, its complete implementation and upgrading is faced with many problems. According to the substation automation retrofit plan, all high voltage substations at any level will have the ability to upgrade to higher levels of automation in order to achieve advanced automation based on IEC 61850 in a stepwise manner. In this article, while investigating the effect of this plan in eliminating defects and improving the performance of the interlock of high pressure posts, with the help of a practical case study, the expected results have been evaluated and presented as a practical solution.
